Alcohol Free Zones

Any person found consuming alcohol on any of the subject public roads or car parks within these areas is guilty of an offence and will be liable to confiscation of the alcohol and prosecution.
‘Take-aways’ are permitted to be carried in these zones provided the bottles/cans are unopened and contained within a bag.
In accordance with Section 644(B) (1) and (2) of the Local Government Act 1993, Council at it’s Ordinary Meeting on 17th April, 2008 resolved to renew the Alcohol Free Zones in the following areas:-
Coonabarabran§ Dalgarno Street between Charles Street and Robertson Street
§ Edwards Street between John Street and Robertson Street
§ Cassilis Streets between John Street and Shire Hall Car Park
§ Essex Street between John Street and Charles Street
§ Timor Lane between Robinson Street and Charles Street
§ Timor Street Car Park
§ Royal Hotel Car Park
§ Shire Hall Car Park
and modify the John Street proposal (between the Castlereagh River Bridge and Edwards Street) to also include the road reserve from the Mary Jane Cane Bridge to the Oval gates at the front of the Youth Centre Alcohol Free Area.
